La mignon di Amaro Averna è un classico delle mignon italiane rappresentante uno dei più famosi amari d’Italia, questa in particolare è molto rara è un vintage anni 70′ e fa parte della collezione di famiglia.
Ancora presente nel mercato questo amaro alle erbe è usato come digestivo dopo i pasti.
Nel 1802, da un’agiata famiglia di commercianti di tessuti, nasceva Salvatore Averna.
Cresciuto a Caltanissetta divenne uno dei membri più attivi della comunità, giudice di pace e benefattore dell’abbazia di Santo Spirito.
Qui, secondo una tradizione antichissima nata nelle abbazie fortificate benedettine e diffusa in Europa attraverso i monasteri cistercensi e cluniacensi, i monaci producevano, con una loro ricetta, un elisir di erbe che, pur essendo “amaro”, era gradevole e possedeva, nelle credenze popolari, doti toniche e terapeutiche.
Nel 1859, in segno di riconoscenza, i monaci decisero di consegnare a Salvatore la ricetta dell’infuso e nel 1868 iniziò la produzione per gli ospiti di casa Averna.
Oggi è diventato proprietario nel 2014 il gruppo Campari.

In 1802, Salvatore Averna was born from a wealthy family of textile merchants.
Growing up in Caltanissetta he became one of the most active members of the community, judge of peace and benefactor of the abbey of Santo Spirito.
Here, according to an ancient tradition born in the Benedictine fortified abbeys and widespread in Europe through the Cistercian and Cluniac monasteries, the monks produced, with their own recipe, an elixir of herbs which, although being “bitter”, was pleasant and possessed, in the beliefs popular, tonic and therapeutic qualities.
In 1859, as a sign of gratitude, the monks decided to deliver the recipe for the infusion to Salvatore and in 1868 production began for the guests of the Averna house.
Today the Campari group became the owner in 2014.
